Nearly Perfect... Bad Band3

I've been very familiar with the Timex band as 80% of the watches I've bought in the last decade have been Ironman Timex watches. So the familiar feel of the buttons was a great plus to buying this watch.

The only downgrade from previous versions of the Ironman is the 50 lap "memory". I've had other Ironmans that allow you to save previous runs swims bikerides or whatever else you've been timing. Now you can only save one... with up to 50 laps. When a new time starts you must delete your old one first.

But my biggest complaint is the band. When I first put the watch on my wrist I fell in love with how it feels. The unique look of the band also fit my wrist like a glove and I thought I had the perfect watch. Unfortunately it has just suddenly came off twice in the last half year I've owned it. And not from anything too rough. The last time I was just driving. And putting it back on was worst than solving a Rubik's cube. And if you want to replace the band forget it findng a replacement has been fruitless thus far. A price to pay for such a unique look.

Recommended? In the end no I regret buying this watch. If they can figure out how to keep it held together better this would be a wonderful watch to own. Though 2-3 times more expensive my favorite watches of late were made by Nike.More detail ...

Perfect Watch at the Right Price5

This watch is attractive and well made at an excellent price point. I found it identical in function to other Timex models that cost twice the price. This watch has the following modes: time 1 time 2 alarm stopwatch and timer all with indiglo option. The watch also notes the day and date. I found the watch very easy to set and operate and recommend it to anyone.More detail ...

Timex black Leather Indigo Watch3

This is my fourth Timex indigo and I have always been pleased with the attractiveness durability and basic quality. Rather than replace the watch band or the battery after a year or so I get a new watch.

There are two things about this watch that surprised me. The face is much larger than I expected and therefore the watch does not hold securely on the wrist. Second the illumination in dark places is not nearly as bright as the previous watches.More detail ...

Timex Men's Expedition E-Instruments Compass Tide Temperature Watch #T45601

Is 5 stars all I can give it???5

This thing is freakin awesome!!! Yes it is huge. The 1st time I put it on I commented to my wife that it looks like one of our kitchen bowls sitting on my wrist. However the more I wore it the more used to it I got and thus the more I fell in love with this magnificent watch.

It's hard to tell if the temp gauge is accurate or not because on my wrist it appears accurate but when I take it off and set it on the counter in the same room it will decrease by about 5 degrees. I wonder if Timex configured the watch to adjust for body heat. Possibly.

The compass does work and it is accurate BUT you must calibrate it correctly or it will not be accurate. Follow the instructions carefully and remember 2 important things. 1st to get the an accurate reading the watch (assuming it's on your wrist) MUST be level. And 2nd if you're close to any electronic device (computer TV and yes a car) it will throw it off a few degrees. I believe the radio waves interfere. I never use the E-tide.

Bottom line: get this friggin thing - you will not be disappointed!More detail ...

not just a man's watch easy to read4

I'm not a man and don't like bulky men's watches on my small wrist - but I'm getting older and cannot read the microscopic dials on most ladies watches.

The dial is big enough to read without me having to cut my arm off lay it on a table and step back 5 feet... and the Indiglo is so mild - in the middle of the night I can press the light and I can easily read the time without a harsh light assaulting my eyes or without it being so dim I have to nearly wake up all the way to read it.

For a large dial watch the wrist band is fairly narrow which is why I selected this watch. I also like having not only the date on the watch but the day as well. I love technology and had a TI digital watch iin the 1970s and have had several digital watches in my time with many features - but I appreciate looking at an analog time piece.

My less than perfect review stems from two things:

1.) To set the day (not date) you have to crank the time around a full 2 rotations (24 hours) each for each day - this is tiring but hopefully you only have to do it once.

2.) The leather wrist band is very thick. I had another Indiglo watch with a supple nearly calfskin band but the band wore out other wise I'd put it on this watch. It's like having a saddle on your wrist and it's a little stiff. For it to be comfortable I have to latch it at the last hole and wear it like a hula-hoop.More detail ...

Timex Men's Ironman Triathlon 42 Lap Combo Analog Digital Dress Watch #T56371

Sleek and stylish watch4

I have had several Timex watched over the past few years and by far this is the best looking one I've seen in the market however it's missing some standard functionality in most Timex watches.

Pros:

* You can use this as a dress watch it's very stylish.

* The quality of the band seems very good at least it seems like this is really stainless.

* Comes with indiglo light 2 alarms 2-time mode and the standard ironman features: chronograph timer etc.

Cons:

(I hope Timex reads this feedback)

* I wish it had a 5-minute snooze backup alarm which I had on my prior Timexs.

* I used to have a 25th Anniversary Triathlon and I loved the weekday alarm instead this watch comes with an alarm that you can set for a specific date I don't anticipate using this feature ever.

* It doesn't have a night mode usually if you hold the indiglo light it would switch to a mode which doesn't require you to hold the indiglo button to keep the light on.

* The set button is the same as the Indiglo light button. I found this makes setting the alarm extremely difficult while in the dark.More detail ...

Timex Men's Expedition Premium Collection Chrono Alarm Watch #T45951

Incredible watch for the money4

After years of keeping track of time using a number of timex cheapo digital watches i started a search for a nicer analog watch. one of the benefits of digital watches is their features; lighting and alarm being among them. Its difficult finding an analog watch with those features.

One of the negatives of timex watches is their lack of identification. i have recently collected 6 timex analog watches none of which has any markings as to model number. The model under discussion is T45951. The only ID markings on my watch is "922 PP." Go figure.

This watch comes with an instruction sheet that was printed for a previously available model upon which this model is based. This model I believe no longer available is heavier with a rounded crystal an integral metal band and identical features. The current model has a larger face and is easier to read. It would have been appropriate for Timex to print an instruction sheet specifically for the current model.

Although we are discussing the T45951 I would like to point out that there are similar models available with identical styling/features but in two other colors. Our model has an ivory field with black markings which I find most legible and esthetically appealing. There is also a model available with a black field and white markings and also one with a blue field and white markings with an integral stainless band.

As is the case in all similar Timex chronographs the upper/right sub dial measures .1 of a second. I find this useless and would prefer a dial measuring 6 or 12 total elapsed hours.

The dial alarm setting is unique to Timex watches and is the best feature of the watch. It is easy to set and very accurate. The same can be said of the Indiglo illumination system. The alarm and Indiglo are two important features that are not easily found in other watches no matter how expensive. Also the legibility of the watch face is excellent. The watch has a setting feature that allows one to set the hours without having to scroll through minutes. This is also a help in manually advancing past 31 (or 30) when the month has less days.

I have had this watch for two months purchased from Amazon and it has become my everyday timepeice. The only change I have made to it Is replacing the supplied leather band. All in all the best watch for the money with superior features and very attractiving styling. Change the 1/10 th of a minute sub dial to one that counts elapsed hours and I would rate it near perfect.More detail ...

Timex Men's Expedition Premium Collection Chronograph Watch #T42351

Nice Watch4

Pros: Works as advertised. Smooth operation: buttons and crowns are big and easy to push pull and turn. Easy to set alarm. Easy time zone changes. Chronograph functions. Split time feature. Quartz accuracy. Dial flashes when alarm sounds. Looks even better than the picture.

Cons: Dial contrast is not as pronounced as in picture which makes it a little harder to see the hands without my glasses than I anticipated but I can manage. Alarm is too quiet for me to hear in most circumstances but I do have a profound high-frequency hearing loss. Young people won't be bothered by either of these issues.

I'm satisfied with the watch. It looks good and has good features.

Overall a quality high-tech look and function in a watch that is accurate affordable and from a company that has a reputation for durable watches. Status hounds look elsewhere.

Hadley Roma sells a black stainless bracelet that will fit this watch but they also sell high-quality deployant clasps to fit the leather band for those who don't particularly like buckled bands.

One more thing if you don't read the instructions before you begin playing with the watch functions you will think the watch is defective. The watch requires some simple to perform calibrations for the chronograph dials to function properly.More detail ...

Timex Men's Ironman 100-Lap FLIX System Watch #T5E231

For my purposes still the best all-around digital watch out there5

I've had various incarnations of the Timex Ironman watches over the years. They take a beating and have great functionality. To me this model has about the best practical value overall being rather feature-laden without being overcomplicated. One distinct value of this watch over the "sleek" and similar models is that it does NOT have an integrated band. Sure integrated bands look cool but if you wear the watch daily the band will start to break down after about a year and then you have to send it back to Timex for a new band. Not so with this watch. New users will have to take a little time to figure out the various functions of the watch but once you get the idea operation is very logical. The stopwatch is great for training having more laps at your disposal than you're ever likely to need multiple timers and alarms and two time zones. These are also useful for training but also just useful in general life (moreso than you'd think). In all a solid choice for a digital sports watch and an excellent value considering Amazon's prices. Highly recommended. More detail ...

Best watch ever - simple elegant; lasts forever5

I love this watch. It's so simple (tells the time - what more do you need?) elegant (you can wear it with anything) and I've been wearing it for three years now and it's not only still running but it doesn't show any wear and tear. It's cheap too - who needs a ten thousand dollar watch (except to brag) when all you need is a simple instrument to tell the time. It's got 24-hour time glow-in-the-dark minute and hour hands it's cheap sturdy and it's just about the best darn watch I've ever owned!More detail ...
